Mission and Vision

"The Korean Society of Epidemiology was established on February 17, 1979 to conduct scientific research on the mechanisms of occurrence of various diseases at the population level and on effective methods of control, while also disseminating this knowledge. The Society contributes to improving public health and to fostering academic exchange and fellowship among its members, and carries out activities deemed appropriate to its aims, such as publishing journals, hosting academic lectures, and promoting exchanges with overseas societies.

The Korean Journal of Epidemiology was first published in November 1979 as an annual journal; beginning in 1985 it was issued twice a year. In October 2009 it was reorganized as the English language open-access journal Epidemiology and Health, establishing a foundation for international scholarly exchange.

The Society strives to generate scientific evidence to inform and support public-health policy and response based on epidemiology and to train professionals, thereby contributing to the promotion of the nation’s health. "
